Suno Style Prompt Cheat Sheet — 50+ Keywords That Work

This is the quick reference you come back to when writing Suno style prompts. Every keyword here has been tested across multiple Suno versions and produces consistent, useful results. Organized by category so you can mix and match to build your own prompts.
Use these as building blocks. A good Suno style prompt typically picks 3–6 keywords from different categories and arranges them in order: genre → energy → instruments → production texture → vocals.
How to use this list
Pick one or two from each relevant category. Start with genre, then energy, then instruments and production. For Suno v5 you can combine keywords into short descriptive phrases. For v3 and v4, keep them as individual keywords separated by commas.
Genre & Subgenre
The foundation of every prompt. Be specific — "tech house" works better than "electronic", and "dark R&B" works better than "R&B".

Energy & Tempo Feel
Describes how the track moves — not the exact BPM, but the kinetic quality of the music. These work better than raw BPM numbers in most cases.

Instruments & Sound Sources
Specific instrument names outperform generic categories. "TR-909 kick" tells Suno more than "electronic drums". "upright bass" tells it more than "bass".

Production Texture
Describes how the mix sounds — the sonic character and recording aesthetic. These single words carry a lot of weight.

Reverb & Space
Space and reverb character dramatically affect the feel of a track. Use these to control how "big" or "intimate" the sound is.

Vocal Direction

Build your own
A solid prompt formula: [genre] + [energy] + [1–2 instruments] + [production texture] + [reverb] + [vocal direction]. That's all you need for a reliable starting point. Then iterate from there.
